Great things come in small packages.
So they say. Or is it the bigger the better?
Compact design is definitely a tick box for us when it comes to nursery furniture, as is functionality, but we want more. We want products that are big on quality, sustainable production, and contemporary design. With this in mind, we're delighted to introduce Charlie Crane's Kumi cradle. It's one of those bigger better smaller great things.
Here is everything you need to know about the Charlie Crane Kumi cradle.
What is the Kumi?
The Kumi is a modern baby cradle/bassinet designed by children's furniture brand Charlie Crane Paris. It was designed by Royal College of Art alumni Gaspard Tiné-Bérès who heads up the design team at Charlie Crane.

What makes the Kumi cradle so special?
Lookswise the beautiful designer cradle speaks for itself. It's cosy bassinet keeping your baby safe while at the same time the airy mesh helping them remain connected to you.
For us, there are two really special qualities that a photo won't show you.
The first is the assembly of the cradle. The symbolic lacing of the cords as you put together your baby's first bed. It will be one of those incredible Oh, this is really happening! moments where you step back and can't quite imagine that your newborn will be snoozing here in the not-so-distant future. And don't worry, it won't be an Oh no, why isn't this happening?! scenario- the Kumi is straight forward to assemble, you just need the Allen key provided.
The second special quality is the gentle lateral swing that allows you to softly rock your baby to sleep. No creaks or squeaks, just a peaceful, fluid movement that will help your little one adjust to their new outside world. Bringing the age-old tradition of a rocking cradle into a modern minimalist design.
What sort of nursery would suit a Kumi cradle?
The contemporary design of the Kumi cradle will work in any modern nursery. It can stand out as much or as little as you want it to. For a natural look try the hazelnut cords. For a minimalist Scandi style opt for the black & white. And for a fun pop of colour we love the aqua and pink options.
What age is the Kumi cradle suitable for?
The Kumi cradle is suitable from birth until the child can sit alone, stand up or crawl. Once the baby has finished using the cradle it can be folded down and stored ready for future siblings.
